In response to these crazy times, we want to provide a space for community, inspiration and learning. It started as a one time Happy Hour in March 2020 to share community and hope in isolation weekly. It is now every month with guests from all facets of the industry sharing insight, wisdom and resources.

Kelly Edwards

TV Executive & Screenwriter

Kelly Edwards has worked for every major studio in Hollywood. After a long career as a film and television executive, she decided to transition from executive to writer.

As the SVP of Talent Development for Warner Media Entertainment, Kelly Edwards oversaw emerging artist programs for HBO, HBOMax, and Turner. Prior to HBO, Edwards served as a corporate diversity executive at Comcast/NBC Universal where she oversaw over 20 divisions.

Edwards' career has spanned both television and film having produced a Hallmark MOW and a network drama series after serving as the SVP of Comedy for UPN. She graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and MFA in Screenwriting at Emerson College.

She has been a Sundance Episodic Lab fellow and is the President of the non-profit organization she founded, Colour Entertainment. Her book, The Executive Chair: A Writer's Guide to TV Series Development, is an Amazon Best Seller. She currently writes for the Fox drama, OUR KIND OF PEOPLE.

Emmy-Winning Producer Mark Maxey

 

Mark's upcoming feature film, WORDS OF WAR, will be in theaters on May 2nd, so we are here to celebrate his upcoming release by discussing his journey, his current film, and how he did it. Mark Maxey is an Emmy award-winning producer for major motion pictures and is currently the president of Rolling Pictures. Recent productions of his include the political thriller ANNA directed by James Strong and starring Ciarán Hinds, Jason Isaacs, Maxine Peak; Kyra Sedgwick’s feature directorial debut SPACE ODDITY starring Kevin Bacon, Madeline Brewer, and Carrie Preston; and Mayim Bialik’s directorial debut AS THEY MADE US starring Dustin Hoffman, Candice Bergen, Dianna Agron, and Simon Helberg. Maxey also worked on RARE OBJECTS, which was directed by and starring Katie Holmes with Alan Cumming, Julia Mayorga and Derek Luke; as well as the documentary feature UP TO SNUFF which Maxey wrote, directed and produced himself, featuring Aaron Sorkin, Martin Sheen, Tom Arnold, and W.G. Snuffy Walden. He has executive producer credits on the film THE KILL ROOM starring Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman and Maya Hawke, and is directed by Nicol Paone.

Mark is on the national board of the Producers Guild of America and also is a member of the Television Academy. He's co-founder and chairman emeritus of the Washington West Film Festival─ the only film festival to donate 100% of box office proceeds to help at-risk youth and families in need. Maxey serves on the boards of Women in Film & Video, Artistic Fuel Foundation, and the Rock & Roll for Children Foundation benefiting families fighting pediatric cancer at the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health.
